Niveau matériel le ArcSys Show avait donc :

• 5 postes Guilty Gear XX Accent Core (PS2)
• 1 borne BlazBlue CS2 exclusive prétée par Arc System Works
• 1 petit scène près de la grande scène pour faire nos finales et encoder les matchs

Notre plus grand regret a été de devoir enlever les postes de freeplay se trouvant à l’extérieur de la zone tournoi. Si au début nous pensions pouvoir nous en occuper et avoir un espace qui permettrait leur création, la disposition de la salle n’a finalement pas permis de mettre les jeux en démonstration. Heureusement les organisateurs du Stunfest avaient prévu le coup et ont distribué des badges visiteurs pour que les gens qui voulaient tester les jeux puissent entrer, et nous avons fait de notre mieux pour préter manettes et sticks. Guilty Gear a été très peu joué par des gens ne connaissant pas le jeu, BlazBlue un peu, mais c’est surtout BlazBlue CS2 (Platinum !) ainsi que Arcana Heart 3 qui ont attiré du monde pendant le weekend.

Nous avons été complet dans quasi tous les tournois. Le tournoi principal de Guilty Gear a eu la chance d’accueillir 17 teams (soit 34 joueurs, ce n’était pas arrivé depuis des années) de force différentes mais chacune semble s’être amusée au tournoi. A Blazblue, le tournoi principal a du refuser des joueurs faute de moyens pour les accueillir (nous avions prévu 32 joueurs, et avons du refuser 6 ou 7 joueurs venus s’inscrire sur place). Quand au tournoi Arcana Heart, il a été l’occasion pour beaucoup de gens de découvrir le jeu. Si certains avaient un bon niveau, la plupart des joueurs ont testé le jeu sur place et se sont inscrits au tournoi pour le fun, et nous avons pu faire un tournoi 16 joueurs.
Deux tournois bonus ont eu lieu : un tournoi Team pour BlazBlue et un tournoi Solo 16 joueurs pour Guilty Gear. Le tournoi team a été difficile à finir car beaucoup de ses joueurs faisaient de nombreux tournois, mais le tournoi solo Guilty Gear s’est pour sa part déroule sans encombre.

Si les tournois Guilty Gear n’ont pas eu trop de souci de retard, le tournoi solo Blazblue a eu du mal à finir une de ses poules car Tokido était dedans et devait faire un sacré paquet de tournois en même temps. Les joueurs l’ont donc attendu pendant très longtemps pour finir la poule, mais au final tout s’est bien passé. Quand au tournoi team je ne m’en occupais par personnellement mais il me semble que malgré les retards, tout s’est bien déroulé.

Notre seul regret concerne la non-venue de certains joueurs français qui malheureusement ne pouvaient pas venir (pour BlazBlue Skyll le gagnant de la WGC passait son bac, Chronoxir que le travail a empêché de venir, Abyss qui vit à l’autre bout de la France) ainsi que la non venue de joueurs étrangers. Un de nos buts l’année prochaine sera d’offrir aux joueurs français une plus grande diversité de joueurs en motivant les étrangers à venir jouer en France.

La décision de faire des tournois peu chers a été la bonne. Beaucoup de joueurs se sont inscrits à Guilty Gear et Blazblue bien qu’ils n’avaient pas un gros niveau de jeu. Le format de Blazblue particulièrement, avec ses poules de 8 joueurs en 2 matchs gagnants, à permis à chaque inscrit de faire beaucoup de matchs contre des joueurs de différents niveaux. Cela faisait des poules certes longues mais évitait les éliminations trop rapides. Pour Guilty Gear le format était bon mais certains joueurs aimeraient aussi avoir des poules lors des futurs tournois, nous verrons si nous pouvons mettre cela en place.

Les lots ont été très appréciés par les joueurs, et si le public a été clairement surpris (les autres tournois proposaient de l’argent et généralement une coupe), certains détails comme les dessins signés par M. Ishiwatari, ainsi que les Mooks signés par M. Mori ont touché à la fois les joueurs et le public, pas vraiment habitués à voir ce genre d’efforts fait par les développeurs du jeu. Le peu de lots qui restaient ont été distribués aux joueurs les plus assidus du weekend pour les remercier.

Enfin concernant les joueurs japonais venus pour l’occasion, si RF a été totalement intouchable pendant tout le weekend (seul Camo a réussi à lui prendre un match à ce que j’ai compris), Tokido a été un challenge intéressant pour les joueurs de Blazblue d’un niveau assez élevé. Zero no Shana lui aura donc pris la finale du tournoi Team avant de s’incliner en solo. Ce fut très agréable et motivant pour les joueurs d’avoir des participants aussi talentueux.

Nous allons terminer sur les remerciements sans lesquels tout ceci n’aurait pas été possible :

• Le Stunfest qui nous a accueilli, et plus particulièrement Waldo et SRG qui nous ont donné carte blanche.
• Ted et Geraint de Zen United pour leur support constant et les lots offerts pour les tournois, ainsi que Sophie pour son intérêt pour la communauté de joueurs.
• Les joueurs qui, en venant cette année en nombre, nous ont fait honneur et prouvé que même s’il y a des hauts et des bas, les communautés sont toujours là.
• Arc System Works pour son aide et le prêt de BlazBlue CS2 qui a beaucoup plu pendant tout le weekend.
• eLive pour avoir sponsorisé des joueurs de haut niveau.
• Jackal, Zero no Shana, Tritri qui nous ont grandement aidé pendant les tournois.
• Et bien sûr à titre personnel je remercie Maho pour toute son aide pendant le weekend.

Sur ce on se dit à l’année prochaine pour un nouvel Arcsys Show !

I needed two days to comeback to life, but yes, ArcSys Show just finished last Sunday with the BlazBlue solo final. Even if we were an event inside the global event, we managed to attract people for the tournaments, certainly because this year Arc System tournaments were not done by some random staff but by players for players.

Speeking equipment, the ArcSys Show had :

• 2 sets for Arcana Heart 3 (ps3)
• 6 to 9 sets for BlazBlue Continuum Shift (Xbox)
• 5 sets for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core (ps2)
• 1 Arcade Cabinet with BlazBlue CS2
• 1 small scene near the main scene for our finals and record the matchs

Our biggest regret was to remove the freeplay TVs that were outside the tournament area. First we though we could take care of it and have a space to make it possible, but the disposal of the room didn’t permit us to put the games in demonstration. Fortunately, the organizers of the Stunfest prepared badges for visitors to access the tournament area so people can come in and test the games. We made what we could to provide sticks and pads. Guilty Gear wasn’t played much by visitors, BlazBlue a bit more, but BlazBlue CS2 (Platinum helped !) and Arcana Heart 3 attracted people during the weekend.

All tournaments were full ! Guilty Gear main tournament had 17 teams (34 players, didn’t happened for years) with different levels but everyone seemed to enjoy the tournament. The main tournament of Blazblue was full and we had to refuse people (6 or 7 players, the tournament had 32 players). For the Arcana Heart tournament, it was an occasion for many players to discover the game. Some already had a great level, but most of the players just tested the game and registered for the tournament for fun, and we managed to have 16 players. Two bonus tournaments were held : a team for BlazBlue and a Solo 16 players for Guilty Gear. the Team tournament was hard to finish because many players were doing other tournaments too, but the Guilty Gear solo was a piece of cake thanks to the players.

The Guilty Gear tournament didn’t have too much problems, but the solo Blazblue tournament was hard to finish because Tokido was in and needed to play a lot of tournaments at the same time. Players waited him for a long time in order to finish the pool. For the Blazblue team I was not in charge but we managed to make it quite well. Once again, many players on many tournaments did not help but that was not so dramatic.

Our only regret is the lack of famous french players like Skyll the champ of the World Game Cup (he had exams to attend to), Chronoxir (work didn’t let him come) and Abyss (living too far from Stunfest). One of our goals next year will be to gather for french players much more stranger players. I hope we will be able to make it.

Our decision to make cheap tournament fees was good. Many players registered to Guilty Gear and Blazblue knowing they didn’t have the level, but took the fun. The Blazblue rules, with 8 players in each pool and 2 winning matches, ensured that each player could do a lot of matches and meet a lot of players with different levels. Pools were a bit long, but we did not have quick elimination of the less skilled players. For Guilty Gear many players asked for a pool system next year, we will see if it’s possible.

The prizes were very appreciated by players, and if the public was surprised (other tournaments gives money and a cup), some details like the drawings of M. Ishiwatari, and the mooks signed by M. Mori touched the public, not accustomed to see game developers make this kind of efforts. The small amount of prizes that was left after the tournaments were given to the more present players to thank them for their venue.

Finally, about the Japanese players that came. If RF was totally untouchable during all the week (only Camo managed to took a match to him I heard), Tokido was an interesting challenge for BlazBlue players with skills. Zero no Shana took the finals of the team tournaments to him before losing in the solo finales. It was very cool and motivating for players to have skilled players.

We will finish with greetings to the people that permitted the ArcSys Show to exist :

• The Stunfest, and particulary Waldo and SRG for giving us free will.
• Ted and Geraint from Zen United for their constant support and the prizes, thanks to Sophie too for her interest about the community.
• The players that, by coming this year, honoured us and proved they are still there and will continue to play.

Un de nos regrets avait été par manque de temps et de moyen, d’inviter un joueur étranger de renom à l’event. Le hasard faisant bien les choses, le site consacré aux eSports, eLive, a dévoilé qu’ils auraient une team de joueurs au Stunfest. Parmi ces joueurs, on compte essentiellement des français, mais eLive a tenu a faire venir un joueur du Japon pour donner un peu plus de challenge aux joueurs présents.

Ce joueur invité c’est donc RF ! Classé parmi les meilleurs joueurs de Guilty Gear au monde, il a été en demi finales de nombreux tougeki, avaient participé plusieurs fois à l’EVO, et avait carrément, cette année, gagné le Tougeki a Guilty Gear Accent Core et Street Fighter IV ! On le dit également fort à King of Fighters, il devrait donc apporter du challenge dans chacune des grandes écoles de la baston !

Enfin, sachez que eLive à décidé de sponsoriser deux joueurs pour le tournoi BlazBlue : Maho, co-organisateur du ArcSys Show, et Zero No Shana, vainqueur de la Blazblue League l’an dernier, porteront les couleurs du site lors des tournois !

We are lucky this year !

One of our regrets was to not invite a famous player, because of the lack of time and money. Chance is on our side as the famous eSports dedicated website, eLive, announced their team of players for this year at Stunfest 2k11. Among these players, we see many french renowed players, but eLive invited a much more famous player directly from Japan to give a bit more challenge to the tournaments.

This famous player is RF ! Considered one of the best Guilty Gear players in the world, he has been in a lot of semi finals of the tougeki tournament, went a few times to EVO, and won this year tougeki both at Guilty Gear Accent Core and Super Street Fighters IV ! He is knowed to be a good King of Fighters player, and should give challenge to any school of versus fighting during the weekend !
